Legacy application modernization

Alphabetasoft converts Classic ASP, ASP.NET WebForms and VB.NET applications to modern .NET and React without losing the business logic built into them. It is for Kentucky and remote businesses whose critical systems still run on technology that is hard to hire for, secure or host.

Who it's for

  • Businesses running a core application written 10–20+ years ago
  • Teams that can't find developers for the old technology
  • Applications that fail security reviews or can't move to current servers
  • Owners who need new features the old code can't support

What's included

  • An inventory of every screen, report and business rule
  • The rebuilt application in current .NET and React
  • Database migration, including SQL Server to PostgreSQL if wanted
  • Hosting and deployment, or handover to your team

How it runs

These steps happen in this order.

  1. InventoryCatalogue what the old system actually does, including rules nobody wrote down.
  2. Parallel buildThe old application keeps running while the new one is built.
  3. VerifyCheck the new version against real data and real reports.
  4. Switch overMove when it matches, with a way back if anything surprises you.

Legacy application modernization: common questions

What can you modernize?

Classic ASP, ASP.NET WebForms and VB.NET applications, typically moved to current .NET with a React front end and SQL Server or PostgreSQL behind them.

Do we have to stop using the old application during the rebuild?

No. The existing application keeps running while the new one is built and tested alongside it. You switch over once the new version handles your real work.

Will we lose features or business rules?

Preserving business logic is the point of the work. Existing screens, calculations and reports are catalogued first and checked against the new version before switch-over.
